Algonquin Best Buy Discounts Underway As Closing Nears
Several shelves were bare at the big box retailer Wednesday, but discounted display TVs, computers and other items are still up for grabs.

ALGONQUIN, IL — As the closing date for the Algonquin Best Buy nears, local residents have been swooping in to score deals on discounted TVs, computers and other electronics items.
As of Wednesday, empty shelves could be found throughout the big box retailer at 1561 S. Randall Road. The biggest discounts still remaining could be found on display TVs and computers, with headphones, speakers, display furniture, appliances and several other items selling below typical retail price.
Among the "open-box" TVs up for grabs was a 65-inch Class QN95B Neo QLED 4K Smart TV, listed for $3,699.99, which is a savings of $1,800, and a 55-inch Class X85K 4K HDR LED Google TV, listed for $699.99.

A spokesperson for the consumer electronics retailer told Patch late last month the store will not be renewing its lease, and its last day of business will be March 4.
The Best Buy has been housed in the 31,000-square-foot building along Randall Road in Algonquin since 2007, and village officials are not currently aware of any official inquiries regarding a new tenant wishing to move into the space, Michael Kumbera, assistant village manager, told Patch this past week.
Best Buy officials did not give a specific reason for the closing and directed customers to continue to shop online and at the nearby Crystal Lake location in the future.
“The decision to close a store is never an easy one, and we are so grateful for our Algonquin-area customers who have shopped with us over the years," according to a statement from Best Buy. "Customers can continue to shop with us at our nearby Crystal Lake location, as well as on BestBuy.com or on the Best Buy app.”
Best Buy officials also did not get back to Patch regarding the number of employees who will be affected by the closure, or if they have been offered positions at other suburban locations.
