Algonquin Blotter: DUI, Aggravated Assault, Retail Theft
The Algonquin Police Department made the following arrests in recent days.
ALGONQUIN, IL — The following information comes from the Algonquin Police Department as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the McHenry County Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

- Nicholas A. Domino, 50, of the 200 block of Center Street in Elgin, was arrested at 2:55 p.m. at Route 31 and Huntington Drive on Nov. 3 and charged with speeding. He was released with a notice to appear in McHenry County.
- Agustin Tabaoda Jr.,20, of the 1800 block of White Chapel Drive in Mount Prospect, was arrested at 6:35 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Route 31 and Main Street and charged with no valid driver’s license and speeding. He was released with a notice to appear in McHenry County.
- Lee Ann DeFabio, 63, of the 5400 block of Whitemore Way in Lake in the Hills, was arrested at 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 6 at her home and charged with driving under the influence, driving while license suspended, hit and run and failure to reduce speed. She was later released with a court date in McHenry County.
- Krystal A. LaViolette, 19, of the 0 to 100 block of Bittersweet Court in Algonquin, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 at her home on a warrant out of McHenry County. She was later released with a court date in McHenry County.
- Kamil Chworos, 32, of Addison, was arrested at 2:25 p.m. on Nov. 9 and charged with two counts of domestic battery and aggravated assault. Chworos was taken into custody in the 1600 block of Yosemite Parkway and then transported to the McHenry County Jail.
- Michael Gjata, 45, of the 200 block of Aberdeen Drive in Algonquin, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 and charged with driving under the influence, failure to obey a stop sign, failure to reduce speed and no insurance. He was taken into custody at 2020 Harnish Drive and was released with a court date in McHenry County.
- James D. Nelson, 38, of the 400 block of West Parkview Terrace in Algonquin, was arrested at 2:31 a.m. on Nov. 11 at 1205 S. Route 31 in Crystal Lake and charged with two counts of domestic battery. He was transported to the McHenry County Jail.
- Edward M. Phillips, 20, of the 1400 block of Exeter Lane in South Elgin, was arrested at 4:55 p.m. on Nov. 11 at Randall and Algonquin roads and charged with driving while license suspended and driving while license revoked. He was released with a court date in McHenry County.
- Elizabeth A. Besterfeldt, 19, of the 200 block of Thomas Street in Cary, was arrested at 5:44 p.m. on Nov. 16 at 1410 S. Randall Road and charged with retail theft. She was transported to the McHenry County Jail.
