It was a happy National Dog Day Wednesday for one local family.
Wrigley, a Brittany spaniel/Labrador retriever mix, was reunited with her Algonquin family after she had been missing for 15 days, the Daily Herald reports. The dog ran away from home after becoming spooked by a nail gun used by a contractor working at her family’s home.

Owners Jeff and Terri Templin started an online campaign to Bring Wrigley Home. The Bring Wrigley Home Facebook page had nearly 500 followers and the family said they received several reports of sightings of Wrigley in recent weeks.
On Wednesday morning, a man called to say he almost hit a dog on Virginia Road in Crystal Lake. He got out to try and approach the dog but she ran away, according to the Bring Wrigley Home Facebook page. Wrigley reportedly ran into a wooded area.

The Templins with the help of an area animal lover, who helps people find their lost dogs, searched the area for two hours, according to the Daily Herald.
The man spotted Wrigley and had Terri talk to the dog.
“As I was calling out for her, she ran and jumped up on me,” Templin told the Daily Herald. “The community, we owe them. We have just been overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone.”
