Algonquin, LITH Fireworks Complaints: 155 Incidents Reported
The Algonquin and Lake in the Hills police departments responded to fireworks-related calls for service over the Fourth of July holiday.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The Lake in the Hills Police Department saw a huge spike in fireworks complaints this past Fourth of July weekend compared to last year, police told Patch. Over the July 3 to July 5 holiday weekend, officers responded to 85 calls for service and investigated 10 anonymous tips regarding fireworks in the village.
In comparison, the Lake in the Hills Police Department responded to 29 fireworks complaints in 2019, Ashley Eccles, communications coordinator for the Lake in the Hills Police Department told Patch in an e-mail response.

In Algonquin, the police department received 60 calls regarding fireworks complaints during the first week of July, Ryan Markhum, deputy chief of operations for the Algonquin Police Department, told Patch. Most of the complaints came in during the nighttime hours of July 3 and 4.
"Although that is the number of calls that were received, many of them were from callers who were reporting the same incident," Markhum said.

No one was injured from fireworks and no fireworks-related fires were reported in Algonquin or Lake in the Hills, John Knebl, deputy chief for the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, told Patch.
