ALGONQUIN, IL — The Algonquin Village Board is expected to vote on its 10-year master parks and recreation plan in April, which could include the addition of a new community center.

The master plan includes a variety of projects proposed for the coming years but approval of the plan does not mean the village is locked into completing any of the outlined projects. Village Manager Tim Schlonger said discussions surrounding the community center, which could include a walking track, teen center community rooms, gymnasium and rental spaces, are preliminary.

Next the village could complete an indoor needs assessment to see how much indoor space the village needs for programming as well as how much growth is expected in town and from there, an evaluation could be completed looking at what services and features a community center should have, according to the Daily Herald. From there, engineering plans could be drafted.
