Algonquin Man Charged With Aggravated Battery After Stabbing

ALGONQUIN — A 61-year-old Algonquin man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after police said he stabbed a 57-year-old man during an incident Sunday evening.

Algonquin police responded at about 6:20 p.m. on Sunday to a home in the 2600 block of Christie Drive for a reported stabbing. When officers responded they found a 57-year-old man outside the residence with multiple lacerations, including injuries to his chest and face, police said.

The man was conscious and alert and was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police took Richard M. Dobson, 61, of the 2600 block of Christie Drive, into custody in connection with the incident, police said. He was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a Class 3 felony, as well as two counts of domestic battery, both Class A misdemeanors.

Dobson was taken to the Kane County Correctional Facility to await a pretrial release hearing. Police said their investigation determined the incident was isolated and there was no threat to the general public.
