Authorities launched an investigation into Maxim in late November after being called to Peter and Elvira Almen's home near downtown Algonquin for a well-being check. They did not locate the couple and found their bodies a day later, police said.
Authorities say Parnov killed Elvira Almén and Peter Almén before he put Elvira's body in a freezer and Peter's body in a cabinet inside their home in the 400 block of LaFox Drive. He then used a UHaul truck to transport the freezer and the cabinet, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in McHenry County Circuit Court.
