Algonquin Man Skips Trial, Found Guilty of Selling Heroin
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Donevin A. Quick who missed recent court proceedings in Kane County.

A 40-year-old Algonquin man who skipped his trial this past week now faces a minimum six-year prison sentence for selling heroin, prosecutors said Thursday. A Kane County jury on Tuesday found Donevin A. Quick, of the 500 block of West Parkview Terrace in Algonquin, guilty of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, which is a class 2 felony. The charge stems from an undercover investigation conducted in Elgin in April 2014, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
Meanwhile, a warrant has been issued for Quick's arrest since he failed to show up to recent court hearings. He had been free on a $15,000 bond but the last time he actually made it to court was during a hearing on Feb. 2, according to prosecutors.
Even though Quick did not show up for his trial this past week, the court proceedings went on without him. Prosecutors presented evidence that showed Quick and a co-defendant met an undercover officer in an Elgin parking lot on April 18, 2014.

Quick gave the officer four baggies of heroin and the officer gave Quick $40 in return, prosecutors said. A jury on Tuesday found Quick guilty of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
Quick now faces a sentence of between six and 30 years in prison. Because of his felony history, which includes a 2004 robbery conviction in Will County, a 2007 drug conviction in LaSalle County, and a 2008 burglary conviction in DeKalb County, Quick will be sentenced to an extended term, prosecutors said.

Quick is next expected in court on July 13.
The co-defendant in the case pleaded guilty in 2014 to unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 2 felony, and was sentenced to three years in prison.
Anyone with information about Quick and his whereabouts should call their local police department.
