Algonquin Police Remind Residents About Scooter, ATV Rules

The Algonquin Police Department reminds residents that some vehicles are prohibited on public sidewalks, roadways.

The Algonquin Police Department would like to remind residents that the use of motorized scooters, go-carts, golf carts, mini-bikes, ATV’s and similar personal use vehicles/devices on public sidewalks, roadways and Village property is prohibited by Village ordinance. It is also unlawful to operate these vehicles on private property without the written permission of the property owner. Electric wheelchairs and electric personal assistive mobility devices are exempt, if operated in a safe and orderly manner.

We encourage residents to operate these vehicles in a responsible and lawful manner and to always use the appropriate protective equipment, such as helmets.
