Algonquin Teens, Woman Make Top 20 for Suburban 'Got Talent' Competition

Among those who will compete in a July 8 performance are brothers A.J. Lubecker, a comedian, and Shane Lubecker, a yo-yo artist.

Two Algonquin brothers and an Algonquin woman are among those chosen as the 20 finalists to compete in Suburban Chicago's Got Talent. 

A.J. Lubecker, 18, a comedian, and brother Shane Lubecker, 16, a yo-yo artist will compete in a top 20 show at 7 p.m. on July 8 at the Metropolis in Arlington Heights, according to the Daily Herald. The Lubeckers are both from Algonquin. 

Also from Algonquin, Amy Echols, 25, will compete along with her fellow dancers from an Elk Grove Village-based Rodriguez Dance Theatre, according to the Daily Herald.

Nearly 200 contenders competed during closed-door auditions at the Metropolis in recent weeks, according to the Daily Herald.

Following the July 8 competition, the top 10 finalists will compete at 6 p.m. on July 22 and then the final five will perform at 7 p.m. on Aug. 5. The final five will perform again on Aug. 11 at the Taste of Arlington Heights where a winner will be announced, according to the Daily Herald.
