Algonquin Trick-or-Treating Hours, Safety Tips

Attention ghouls, witches, princesses and others celebrating Halloween: here's when candy will be handed out and how you can stay safe.

ALGONQUIN, IL — Hundreds of kids will be wearing their favorite costumes and trick-or-treating their hearts out around Algonquin on Wednesday, Oct. 31. The Village of Algonquin has announced its official trick-or-treating hours for 2018: Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Trick-or-treating safety tips for kids:
  • Travel in groups or go with a parent.
  • Wear something that lights up such as a glow necklace or reflective tape, or use a flashlight.
  • Only go to well-lit houses.
  • Always go to the front door.
  • Do not approach strange vehicles for any reason.
Tips for parents:
  • Parents should always inspect candy before it's eaten.
  • If you cannot join your child, know your child's trick-or-treat route.
  • Remember to turn a porch light on if you are home and will be handing out treats.
