MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 38-year-old Woodstock man died after being electrocuted during a farm incident on County Line Road south of Jackson Road in unincorporated McHenry County on Monday evening.
The Boone County Fire Protection District was called to the farm along County Line Road south of Jackson Road after the grain chute of a John Deere 9520RX tractor, which was pulling a Brent 2096 grain cart, made contact with the overhead power lines, causing the lines to come down. At the time, the tractor was attempting to offload grain into a semi truck parked on the road.
A 38-year-old Woodstock man, who was driving the semi truck, tried to get onto the tractor and was electrocuted. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the John Deere tractor, a 56-year-old Hebron man, was injured and taken to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He is listed in fair condition, according to a news release.
ComEd representatives responded to the scene to address the downed power lines and investigate the incident, according to authorities.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
