2 Dead In Kane County Crash

The collision happened in the area of Sandwald Road and Big Timber Road near Huntley Thursday evening.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Two people are dead following a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in unincorporated Kane County, according to the Huntley Fire Protection District.

Fire crews were dispatched at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday to the area of Sandwald Road and Big Timber Road after multiple 911 calls reported a crash with injuries. When responders arrived, they found both vehicles with significant front-end damage in the roadway just west of the intersection, according to a news release from the fire protection district.

Firefighters were able to access both drivers without the need for extrication, and each vehicle had a single occupant.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the other vehicle, a woman, was transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. Officials have not released additional information, including what may have caused the collision.
