Motorcyclist Pleads Guilty In Road Rage Attack On Driver In Lake In The Hills

A Sleepy Hollow motorcyclist accused of attacking a driver following a road altercation in Lake in the Hills has pleaded guilty to a felony charge.

Shaw Local is reporting Julio C. Salas, 35, pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated battery in a public place, days before his trial was scheduled to begin, according to McHenry County court records. Prosecutors alleged Salas and a group of motorcyclists surrounded a 61-year-old driver's vehicle after a June 13 confrontation near Route 31 and Virginia Road, then Salas repeatedly punched the man and struck him with a helmet while he was still inside the vehicle.

Judge Mark Gerhardt scheduled Salas' sentencing for Sept. 11 following a presentence investigation.
