Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Marengo-Area Crash

A woman was airlifted to a Rockford hospital after she was ejected from her motorcycle in a crash with a minivan Wednesday.

MARENGO, IL — A motorcyclist was seriously injured Wednesday after being ejected from her motorcycle in a two-vehicle crash at a Marengo-area intersection, fire officials said.

Marengo Fire & Rescue and Union Fire Protection District crews were dispatched at 11:16 a.m. Aug. 26 to the intersection of Dunham Road and W. Union Road for a reported motorcycle crash. The first arriving crews found a motorcycle and minivan had collided in the intersection.

An woman riding the motorcycle was ejected and found lying in the roadway, according to a news release. The motorcycle became lodged in the driver's side of the minivan, according to fire officials.

Paramedics treated the motorcyclist at the scene and determined she had sustained serious injuries. A medical helicopter was called to the scene and landed on W. Union Road, just east of the intersection.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside in Rockford for further treatment. The occupants of the minivan were evaluated at the scene and reported no injuries, officials said.

Dunham Road and W. Union Road were closed in all directions for more than an hour while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. Further information about what led to the crash was not immediately available.
