ALGONQUIN, IL — About 75 artists coming to Algonquin this weekend for Art on the Fox will receive an unexpected benefit from the village: one year of free access to licensed medical providers for themselves and members of their households.
The benefit is being offered through the Village of Algonquin's existing partnership with TAP (Text a Physician), a telehealth program already available to participating Algonquin households, according to village officials. The village is extending the same access to artists taking part in the Sept. 12-13 festival.
"For many of these artists, bringing their work to Art on the Fox represents a significant investment of time, talent, and effort," Village President Debby Sosine said. "We want them to feel genuinely welcomed in Algonquin, and this is one way we can support the people who help make the festival special."
Artists participating in the festival are responsible for creating and transporting their work, setting up their booths and interacting with visitors throughout the weekend.
"The village saw an opportunity to do something meaningful for the artists coming into the community and asked how we could help," said Dr. Dirk Perritt, an emergency physician and founder of TAP Telehealth. "We were pleased to help Algonquin extend that access to the artists and their families."
Art on the Fox will feature original work in painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, jewelry, fiber, wood, metal and mixed media. The free festival also will include live music, family activities and opportunities to visit businesses in Old Town Algonquin.
The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Old Town Algonquin. Admission is free.
