• Boyer Road To Close Monday For $3.7M Algonquin Project (patch.com) — Drivers in Algonquin should prepare for Boyer Road to close to through traffic starting Monday, Sept. 14, as the village launches a $3.7 million reconstruction and water main project. The work, stretching between County Line Road and Longmeadow Parkway, will last into summer 2027, with access maintained for residents, businesses, emergency vehicles, school buses and deliveries while detours guide other motorists.
   

• 'Dedicated and patriotic': 21-year-old Illinois National Guard soldier from Algonquin area dies after fiery crash (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A 21-year-old Illinois Army National Guard specialist from the Algonquin area, Aiden Mrotek, died in a fiery single-vehicle crash while driving home from a Guard assignment. The former Jacobs High School student and Algonquin Argonauts player is being remembered by military leaders and local youth football organizers, while a MealTrain fundraiser supports his mother and sisters in nearby Lake in the Hills.
   

• Giuliana Dickson, CL Central co-op win McHenry County girls golf titles: Thursday's Northwest Herald roundup (shawlocal.com) — Algonquin sports fans saw plenty of action as the Golf Club of Illinois hosted a Johnsburg boys golf win and Jacobs teams played home volleyball and soccer matches in town. Across McHenry County, Crystal Lake Central's co-op girls golf squad captured the county title, while several Fox Valley Conference schools posted notable golf, volleyball, and soccer results.
