Back To School: Algonquin, LITH 2021-22 School Calendar

ALGONQUIN AND LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Algonquin and Lake in the Hills with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in District 300, District 155, District 47 and District 158.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. Currently, most school districts are grappling with how to handle policies surrounding COVID-19 as the delta variant becomes more prevalent and spreads quickly among unvaccinated residents, including the younger population who cannot yet receive the vaccine.

Currently, most area schools are still grappling with or waiting to decide on whether they will require students to wear masks or not. District 300 will announce its back to school plan during its Aug. 3 board of education meeting and District 158 is expected to also announce its decision at a board of education meeting in early August.

Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

District 155

First Day: Aug. 11
Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 24-26
Winter Break: Dec. 20-Jan. 3
Spring Break: March 28-April 1
Last Day: May 19

District 47

First Day: Aug. 18 (for grades 1st through 8th) and Aug. 19 (for kindergarten)
Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 22-26
Winter Break: Dec. 20-Jan. 3
Spring Break: March 28-April 1
Last Day: May 25

Huntley Community School District 158

First Day: Aug. 18 (for grades 1st through 12th) and Aug. 19 (for kindergarten)
Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 22-26
Winter Break: Dec. 20-Jan. 3
Spring Break: March 28-April 1
Last Day: May 27

Community Unit School District 300

First Day: Aug. 12
Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 22-26
Winter Break: Dec. 20-Dec. 31
Spring Break: March 28-April 1
Last Day: May 13 (for high school seniors) and May 20 (for everyone else)
