1 Family Displaced Following Apartment Fire

The fire at a location along east Algonquin Road broke out Wednesday evening, fire officials said. No one was injured.

ALGONQUIN, IL — One family has been displaced following an apartment fire on East Algonquin Road Wednesday evening, fire officials said. The blaze broke out about 5 p.m., according to a news release from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.

In total, around 30 people were evacuated from the apartment at 200 E. Algonquin Road, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection Captain Bill Hough told Patch. The Algonquin Police Department assisted fire crews in getting everyone out safely.

Hough said the only residents who were displaced had been living in the apartment where the fire started. All of the other residents were able to return to their homes.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire was accidental and remains under investigation.
