Algonquin Lioness Host Textile Recycling Collection Event
The Algonquin Lioness Club has partnered with green company U S Again to promote environmental awareness by collecting unusable and reusable textiles.

The Algonquin Lioness Club has teamed up with green company U S Again to host a TEXTILE RECYCLING event. Not many people know that unusable textiles, such as a stained tablecloth or broken purse, are recyclable. So what they can’t donate, they throw in the garbage. These items can be recycled into insulation, wiping rags, etc or even have the original fibers reclaimed.
The Club tries to do one green project per year. "We felt that textile recycling was a good choice because it is not as well known. It’s a good opportunity to promote environmental awareness and keep these items out of the landfills”, says Club President, Pamela Perrott.
Both usable and unusable items are being collected on Saturday. Reusable textiles are wholesaled and retailed at affordable prices; unusable items are recycled. Recyclable items include clothing, shoes, purses, backpacks, belts, curtains and linens.
