Car Splits In Two During Algonquin Road Crash
The driver in the single-vehicle crash was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

HUNTLEY, IL – The impact from a single-vehicle crash over the weekend on Algonquin Road caused a car to split into two and sent the 35-year-old male driver to an area hospital with serious injuries, authorities told the Daily Herald. The crash occurred at the northwest corner of Algonquin and Haligus roads at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday when the car collided with a traffic control signal. A preliminary investigation shows the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, according to the Daily Herald.

On Monday, authorities were investigating the cause of the collision and also trying to determine how the car, a 2009 Audi, ended up splitting in two, according to the article. The driver's condition as of Monday was not known, police said.
