Chamber Announces Scholarship Opportunities

High school seniors living in Algonquin or Lake in the Hills invited to apply

Algonquin, Ill., March 10, 2016: The Algonquin Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce will award up to two scholarships valued at $1500 each to deserving local high school seniors. Completed applications and supplemental materials are due in hard copy format to the Chamber office, 2114 W. Algonquin Road, Lake in the Hills, by Monday, March 14 at 5pm.

To be eligible for a scholarship, students must be residents of either Algonquin or Lake in the Hills regardless of where they attend school. Students who work for a member of the Chamber (in good standing) or whose parents work for a member of the Chamber are also eligible. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential and a passion for involvement through community service activities, consistent employment and/or school activities.

For the past eight years, the Chamber’s Scholarship Committee has endeavored to raise funds for the purpose of assisting their communities in this way. Committee chairperson Jackie Gappa (Nationwide Insurance) notes that more than $26,000 in scholarships have been awarded to deserving local students who desire to excel in their field of study and give back to their community. “Our mission is to help foster the development of community leaders who are passionate about making a positive impact through business and community endeavors," Gappa says. “We encourage all students who qualify to apply for these awards.”
