Coroner IDs Man Fatally Shot By Deputies In Port Barrington
Nicholas D. Sebastion, 43, died from multiple gunshot wounds. The deputies involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified the 43-year-old Port Barrington man killed in an officer-involved shooting as Nicholas D. Sebastion.
Sebastion's death was caused by multiple gunshot wounds, according to preliminary findings from the McHenry County Coroner's Office. Toxicology results are pending.
At about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, deputies were called to a home in the 200 block of Manchester Lane. When they arrived, the Sebastion started shooting at a woman who was at the home and police, according to authorities.

Two deputies fired back. Sebastion was hit and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Both deputies are now on paid administrative leave. One deputy had been with the McHenry County Sheriff's Office for 1 year and the other had been there for 5.5 years, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

"In accordance with department policy, both deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation by an external entity," according to the news release. The McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team will be investigating the shooting.
Neither deputy was injured.
The woman suffered a graze wound that is not considered life-threatening and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, ABC Chicago reported.
Neighbors told ABC 7 the family had been renting the home where the shooting occurred for about two years and had two young children. Neighbor Fernando Ramirez said one of the kids went to school with his son.
"Sad for the family, sad for the kids," he said. "I feel really bad for the kids."
