Des Plaines Man Charged In Hampshire Sex Assault

KANE COUNTY, IL — A 55-year-old man faces charges in connection with a sex assault that occurred in Hampshire earlier this month, authorities said.

Bertin O. Alanis Garcia of Des Plaines has been charged with four counts of criminal sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual abuse and two counts of driving while license revoked for a DUI, a Class 4 felony, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.

Authorities first learned the sex assault may have happened at the Belvidere Oasis on the morning of Jan. 8, police said. Following an investigation, police determined the actual location of the assault occurred in the 200 block of Loves Crossing in Hampshire.

Police say they identified Alanis Garcia as a suspect and took him into custody on Friday. His bail has been set at $10,000, and he remains behind bars at the Kane County Jail, according to authorities.
