District 300 Could Get Officers In Middle Schools
The village of Algonquin approved the measure and now the District 300 school board will vote on the addition.

Do you think District 300 should have police officers at its middle schools? The Algonquin Village Board thinks so, unanimously approving the intergovernmental agreement during a meeting Tuesday evening to have an officer assigned to serve as a school liaison at Westfield Community School and Algonquin Middle School.
The intergovernmental agreement to provide an officer to the District 300 schools would begin with the 2018-2019 school year, according to village documents. The village, in the agreement, would provide qualified police officers for the open position at Algonquin Middle and Westfield Community schools. The intergovernmental agreement would mirror an agreement the village has with Jacobs High School and will automatically renew annually.
The selected school resource officers would attend a 40-hour Basic School Resource Officer training class and should be trained in gang resistance and alcohol/drug resistance curricula, according to village documents.
