Driver Critically Injured After Jeep Overturns In Huntley Crash

The man was flown to a hospital after he was ejected from his vehicle near Route 47 and Foster Road, authorities said.

HUNTLEY – A man was critically injured Wednesday afternoon following a single-vehicle crash near Route 47 and Foster Road, according to authorities.

The Huntley Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area after receiving reports of a crash with possible injuries at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Crews arrived about eight minutes later and located the crash scene approximately a half-mile east of Route 47 on Foster Road, according to a news release from the Huntley Fire Protection District.

Firefighters found a heavily damaged Jeep overturned on its roof. The adult male driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was found in the roadway near the crash and is believed to have been ejected during the collision, authorities said.

Due to the severity of the man’s injuries, a medical helicopter was requested to the Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital helipad, according to the news release. The man was transported by ambulance to the hospital before he was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical, life-threatening injuries.

Foster Road remained closed for several hours while emergency personnel worked the scene and investigators processed evidence.

The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
