ELGIN ACADEMY’S 35th ANNUAL GALA
March 17, 2012 @the Chicago Marriott Northwest
Elgin Academy’s EXTRAVAGANZA XXXV Dinner and Auction will be held on March 17, 2012 at the Chicago Marriott Northwest in Hoffman Estates.
One of the largest and most successful fundraising events in the Chicago suburbs, Extravaganza aims to generate financial support for academic, athletic, and fine arts programs, as well as professional development of faculty and equipment upgrades. The efforts of parents, staff, teachers, and student volunteers combine to provide a night of exceptional food and fun which raises approximately $150,000 annually for the school; attendees include alumni, parents of both past and current students, and other friends of the Academy.
This year’s theme is “Leading the Way.” The festivities will begin at 5:30pm, featuring dinner, live and silent auctions, and entertainment. The entertainment will include Scott McKay, radio personality of McKay in the Morning on 94.9 The River, as the MC for Elgin Academy’s Extravaganza XXXV.
Elgin Academy has upgraded the event with high- tech handheld devices known as BidPals that allow auction participants to bid on items from anywhere at any time at the event site, and to receive alerts when there is a higher bid from another participant. Donations and registrations are available online at: http://tinyurl.com/extra35.
On March 1st, excitement for the event will begin with an online auction that can be viewed at: http://tinyurl.com/ea-online-auction. The online auction will be open March 1-14th featuring unique experience items, golf packages, restaurant certificates, and more. The live and silent auctions at the event will also feature new items, including a customized oil painting and limited edition prints from Star Wars and Science-Fiction artist Dave Dorman.
Alan and Sandy Kirk have returned as this year’s Co-Chairs of Extravaganza XXXV. Sandy is also President of the Elgin Academy Parent Association. Both Alan and Sandy state: “It is a huge honor. We relish the opportunity to help the school that our son so dearly enjoys. Aaron has attended the Academy since preschool and has enjoyed each successive year. He has grown so much over the years, and we look forward to who he will grow into next—EA Leading the Way!” For more information on the event, contact Alan Kirk at (847) 815-4895.
