Filing Of Nomination Petitions In Algonquin Begins Next Week
The first day to file nominating petitions at the village is on Dec. 14, and the last day to file is Dec. 21.

Election Packets for the 2021 Village of Algonquin Consolidated Election are available, courtesy packets can be obtained electronically at www.algonquin.org/electionpacket. Additional information is available from your County Clerk’s office as well as the Illinois State Board of Elections 2021 Candidates Guide which can be found at www.elections.il.gov.

Village President, Village Clerk, and three Village Trustee seats are up for election; each a four-year term.
The first day to file nominating petitions at the Village of Algonquin is on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. and the last day to file is Monday, December 21, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. The Village of Algonquin will accept petitions and be open to walk-ins 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020 and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020 and by appointment Monday, December 14, 2020 to Monday, December 21, 2020 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (other than walk-in hours) during the petition filing period. December 14, 2020: Walk-ins 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., by appointment 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
December 15, 2020: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
December 16, 2020: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
December 17, 2020: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
December 18, 2020: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
December 21, 2020: By appointment 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., walk-ins 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
No petitions will be accepted after 5:00 pm on Monday, December 21, 2020.
On the first day to file, Monday, December 14, 2020, Village Offices will be open at 8:00 a.m. Those arriving by 8:00 a.m., will be considered a “simultaneous filer” and will be placed into a lottery to determine ballot placement. On the last day to file, Monday, December 21, 2020, Village Offices will be open at 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Any petitions filed during that time will be considered a “simultaneous filer” and will be placed into a lottery to determine ballot placement. Simultaneous Filing Lottery, if needed, will take place on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 9:00 a.m., which is within the time schedule prescribed by State law. The lottery will, of course, be open to the public with notice posted 7 days prior to the lottery.
The Village Clerk and staff cannot provide a review of nominating papers or legal opinions regarding petition papers. Candidates are strongly encouraged to consult their own legal counsel. Once Petition papers have been filed, pages cannot be amended or added.
