Founders' Days 2019: Parking Restrictions, Road Closures
The four-day festival in Algonquin gets underway on July 25 and will continue through July 28.

ALGONQUIN, IL — The village of Algonquin is reminding residents to expect traffic delays and parking restrictions in the area of Spella Park and throughout town as Founders' Days kicks off Thursday, July 25. Special parking restrictions in the area of Spella Park have been imposed and there will be "no parking" signs up on Fairway View Drive, Eineke Boulevard, Eineke Court, Harnish Drive, Spella Drive, Wintergreen Terrace, and Woods Creek Lane, according to information posted on the village of Algonquin website.
Designated parking for the festival, with shuttle bus service to Spella Park, will be available at the following locations:
- Community Unit School District #300 Administration Building, 2550 Harnish Drive
- Gander Mountain (former location), 1400 South Randall Road
- JC Penney, 800 South Randall Road
- Toys R Us (former location), 826 South Randall Road
- St. Margaret Mary Church, 111 South Hubbard Street

Area residents should expect traffic delays Saturday morning during the Founders' Days parade. The parade steps off at 11 a.m. and will begin at Eastgate Drive, travel west on Algonquin Road to Harrison Street, travel south to Washington Street and then travel south on Main Street.
The following closures and detours will be in place during the parade:

- Algonquin Road (Illinois Route 62): The eastbound lanes will be closed between Main Street and Eastgate Drive beginning at 10:00 a.m. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction on Algonquin Road between Main Street and Eastgate Drive.
- South Main Street (Old Illinois Route 31): Closed between Algonquin Road and Huntington Drive beginning at 10:00 a.m. Traffic will be detoured onto Illinois Route 31 (Western Bypass).
- North Harrison Street: Access to Algonquin Road (Illinois Route 62) will be restricted. Vehicles wishing access to Algonquin Road must use North Main Street.
- South Harrison Street: Closed between Algonquin Road and Madison Street.
During the parade, no parking restrictions will be in effect on South Harrison Street, Madison Street, Washington Street (east of South Harrison Street), La Fox River Drive (between Madison Street and Washington Street) and S. Main Street (between Western Bypass and Washington Street), according to village officials.
Traffic congestion should also be expected in the area of Spella Park following Sunday night's fireworks display. The following closures and restrictions will also take effect:
- Bunker Hill Drive: Upon the commencement of the fireworks display, Bunker Hill Drive will remain open in both directions. Turns onto Golden Eagle Drive from Bunker Hill Drive will be prohibited. Vehicles traveling eastbound on Bunker Hill Drive will be permitted to continue straight across Randall Road and onto Huntington Drive or to turn left onto northbound Randall Road. Right turns onto southbound Randall Road will be prohibited.
- Golden Eagle Drive: Upon the commencement of the fireworks display, Golden Eagle Drive traffic will be permitted to turn left onto eastbound Harnish Drive and will be permitted to turn both right and left onto Bunker Hill Drive. Traffic turning onto Golden Eagle Drive from Harnish Drive and Bunker Hill Drive will be prohibited during this time.
- Harnish Drive: Upon the commencement of the fireworks display, Harnish Drive traffic will be restricted to eastbound only. Vehicles will be required to turn right from Harnish Drive onto southbound Randall Road and will be prohibited to from continuing straight or turning left onto northbound Randall Road.
During the fireworks show, no parking restrictions will be in effect on Fairway View Drive, Eineke Boulevard, Eineke Court, Harnish Drive, Spella Drive, Wintergreen Terrace, and Woods Creek Lane.Shuttle buses will also be available for the Founders' Days Fireworks Spectacular.
