Come One, Come All! It's a Founders' Days Carnival

The carnival will take place May 21-25 in the Great Escape parking lot,

The Algonquin Founders’ Days committee is hosting a special carnival later this month to help raise funds for the money the upcoming Founders Days weekend.

Last year there was a significant amount of rain during the annual festival, so the committee wasn’t able to raise as much money as they had hoped, said Jeff Krajewski, president of the Founders Day board of directors.

The carnival will be held in the parking lot of Great Escape 2421 S. Randall Road, and will run from Wednesday, May 21 to Sunday, May 25.

Krajewski said that although the committee doesn’t have a set goal for now, he is hoping the carnival will be another way to get the word out about the upcoming Founders' Days weekend, which is being held July 28-31 this year in Towne Park. This year's theme is "Under the Sea."

One new change to the Founders’ Days celebration will be the Regional State Battle of the Bands concert. As of now, Krajewski said there are five bands entered in the contest from Cary, Crystal Lake, South Barrington, Buffalo Grove and Oregon. But, he added, that is subject to change.

Four groups comprise the Algonquin Founders’ Days Festival Committee: the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce, the Algonquin Lioness Club, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Jaycees and a group of dedicated community members.
