Fox Lake Man Hit By Vehicle, Killed: Authorities

FOX LAKE, IL — A 54-year-old Fox Lake man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle in the area of Route 12 and Eagle Point Road in Fox Lake on Friday night.

On Monday, the Lake County Coroner's identified the man killed in the incident as Mathew Wood. Preliminary results from an autopsy show Wood died from blunt force injuries as a result of a crash, according to the coroner's office.

Wood was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which was reported at about 10:30 p.m. Friday. The cause of the collision, which involved a vehicle hitting Wood, remains under investigation, police said.
