ALGONQUIN, IL — The Algonquin Village Board’s liquor commission approved a liquor license for a new business in downtown Algonquin.

Garden on Main, a new restaurant located at 409 South Main Street, requested a Class A-1 Liquor License, which was approved this past week, said Michael Kumbera, Algonquin’s deputy village manager. This would allow patrons to purchase alcoholic liquor for consumption on and packaged alcohol for off premise consumption.

Garden on Main would have about 800 square feet inside and 1,300 square feet of outdoor and patio space, according to village documents. The business plans to specialize in coffee, gelato and crepes as well as serve up other dishes, according to the business’s Facebook page.
