A 20-year Algonquin resident is missing, but it’s unlikely area law enforcement agencies have put out a BOLO alert—that’s “be on the lookout” for all you less-than-avid Law and Order: SVU viewers—for him.

Mickey the Molar is a 10-foot-by-10-foot tooth balloon that has been the mascot for Dr. Timothy Stirneman’s All Smiles Dental practice in Algonquin for two decades. For the past 17 years, Mickey also has floated in Algonquin’s annual Founders’ Day Parade.

This year, however, Mickey broke his parade streak when he made a break for it before the parade.

The balloon was tied to the one of the outside rearview mirrors of the All Smiles Dental van during Friday’s Founders’ Day festival when it got loose and floated away, according to Barrie Cohen, a publicist for All Smiles Dental. Mickey has yet to be located since then, although there have been unconfirmed reports of him being spotted as far away as Colorado, Cohen said.

Anyone with information about Mickey’s whereabouts should contact All Smiles Dental at 847-854-7645.
