Headdy Glass, Gifts, and Gear Brings Unique Offerings to Downtown Algonquin
Store features functional art, tobacco products and paintings.

A new Algonquin business that specializes in tobacco products and accessories is open for business.
Headdy Glass, Gifts, and Gear, located at 1119 South Main Street, sells a variety of cigarettes, hookah and similar products. The store also carries several display cases worth of “functional glass art,” which can be used as tobacco pipes.
Since the store's grand opening last April, Mr. Ahmad, the owner, said business has been good.

“It’s been picking up due to kinds being out of college,” Mr. Ahmad said. He said he believes that Headdy Glass Gifts and Gear has a huge market. “A wide range of people would be interested in what we sell. Anyone from age 18 to 60, I think.”
Mr. Ahmad is not new to this business. For the past six years he’s sold functional art, jewelry, and clothing to other stores and at festivals.

A lifelong Lake in the Hills resident, he chose the location, “to be close to family,” Mr. Ahmad said. His family owns the Grocery/Butcher shop in the same strip mall.
Much of the functional art is blown in Southern Illinois, Chicago, California or Arizona. Headdy also offers custom functional art and paintings. It also offers imported hookah from Egypt, exclusive local artist clothing from Chicago and handcrafted jewelry.
Due to the store’s focus on tobacco products, customers must be 18 or older to enter.
