Help Create a New Public Artwork Inspired by Trees

The Barrington Area Library and the Lake Barrington office of Bartlett Tree Experts have co-commissioned an original artwork inspired in part by the connections between trees and their environment. The piece will be installed in the library’s soaring atrium this fall and will remain on view for approximately a year.

Barbara Cooper, the award-winning, internationally-shown artist who is creating the artwork, is committed to working with community members on the piece and to using recycled materials as much as possible. She will hold a series of public workshops at the library this summer so that residents can help make it.

Join us for one or more of them! The workshops are family-friendly (age 10 and up) and will be held

• Sunday July 9th, 2 pm – 4pm
• Sunday, July 16th, 2 pm – 4 pm
• Sunday, July 23, 2 pm – 4 pm
• Wednesday, July 26th, 6 pm – 8 pm.

Additional, later, dates to follow.

Enjoy creating alongside the artist, neighbors – even an arborist.

You must register to participate. Email the library’s Karen McBride, Public Information Manager, at KMcBride@balibrary.org to sign up for the date(s) of your choice, or to inquire about later workshops. Bring family members and friends. Space is limited. RSVP soon.

The artist is also seeking materials to use for the project. Are you able to donate long lengths of twine, paper or fabric? She is particularly seeking materials in neutral colors and finishes. Contact Karen McBride to donate.
