Jacobs High School Threat Discredited: District Officials
Classes at the Algonquin school have resumed after a "rumored threat of violence," district officials said.

ALGONQUIN, IL — A rumored threat of violence against Jacobs High School in Algonquin has been discredited, according to School District 300 officials. In a Facebook post, police warned the community to be wary of rumors that haven't been verified or reported to the proper authorities.
The Algonquin Police Department received the information about the rumored threat at 3:54 a.m. Wednesday morning. Police worked with the school district to initiate "shelter-in-place" protocol, which prevented outside access to the school, but allowed students to move around freely inside the building.
Additional officers were assigned to the school for security, police said.
