Kane Co. Deputy Critically Injured In Collision
The crash happened Monday morning in Hampshire Township.
KANE COUNTY, IL — A Kane County Sheriff's Office deputy was critically injured in an early morning crash on Route 47 near Pingree Grove.
The Kane County Sheriff's Office squad car collided with a Dually Dodge Ram pickup truck, which was towing a loaded trailer, at about 7 a.m. on Route 47 just south of Plank Road in Hampshire Township, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say the squad car was headed south on Route 47 when the northbound Dodge Ram attempted to stop in traffic and then drove into the southbound lanes. The truck hit the squad car head-on, according to the news release.

The deputy was taken by helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital and listed in critical condition. There were three people in the Dodge Ram, and at least one person was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with unknown injuries.
The Illinois State Police are investigating the crash and remained at the scene as of Monday morning.
