Lake in the Hills Village Board to Vote on Firing Village Administrator Thursday
The village board is also expected to appoint a new village administrator at Thursday's meeting.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL - The Lake in the Hills Village Board on Thursday is expected to consider firing village administrator Doug Petroshius, the Northwest Herald reports.
Doug Petroshius was only working as the village administrator for Lake in the Hills for three months when he was placed on administrative leave earlier this month after “adopting several policies that disrupted the public and the village’s organizational structure and employee satisfaction,” village president Paul Mulcahy told the Northwest Herald last week.
Some of those policies included requiring public works employees to drive back to their personal vehicles for their lunch breaks instead of allowing them to stop for lunch near where they were working, the Northwest Herald reports. He also shared incorrect information in regards to the village board’s decision to end a lease with Silver Linings Equestrian.

The Northwest Herald reports Petroshius also “changed and disrupted the operation of the police department.”
The village's Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Lake in the Hills Village Hall to consider firing the village administrator and appointing Jennifer Clough, the current assistant village administrator, to the post, according to the Northwest Herald.

Petroshius will continue to receive his salary, which is $140,000 per year, through May, and, if terminated, will receive six months of severance, the Northwest Herald reports.
Prior to Petroshius, Gerald Sagano, who worked as the village administrator for 20 years, was placed on administrative leave last summer before he decided to resign in August.
