LITH Blotter: Dog Bites Person, Dog; Packages Stolen From Porch

The Lake in the Hills Police Department responded to the following reports in recent days.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The following information comes from the Algonquin Police Department as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

  • The Lake in the Hills Police Department pulled over a vehicle on West Algonquin and North Randall Roads on Nov. 11. Gustavo Mora-Jimenez, 51, of the 1400 block of Kaskaskia Avenue in Elgin was arrested on a warrant out of Kane County for failure to appear - traffic offense. His bond was set at $10,000.
  • The Lake in the Hills Police Department was called to the 1100 block of Poplar Street for a report of two dogs that bit a person and his dog at about 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 11. McHenry County Animal Control was called to assist.
  • Between Nov. 11 and Nov. 14, the Lake in the Hills Police Department received 14 fraud reports regarding unemployment benefits claims. All reports were referred to a different agency.
  • The Lake in the Hills Police Department received a theft report after several street signs were found at a home in the 0 to 100 block of Barharbor Court at about 9:20 p.m. on Nov. 14.
  • The Lake in the Hills Police Department received a report of a juvenile that ran away from home at about 5:50 p.m. on Nov. 14. The child was later found and returned to their home safely.
  • On Nov. 13, police received a report of packages stolen from a front porch in the 200 block of Apache Trail. The patrol division was assigned to investigate the incident.
  • On Nov. 13, police received a report of a wood bridge that was damaged at Barbara Key Park, 9341 Pyott Road. The report was turned over to investigations.

Updated information may be available from the McHenry County Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
