LITH Child Passenger Seat Traffic Campaign Nets Several Arrests

The results are in from a recent child passenger seat traffic campaign in Lake in the Hills.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The results are in from a recent child passenger seat traffic campaign in Lake in the Hills.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department took part in the recent traffic enforcement campaign during National Child Passenger Safety Week, with officers making an additional 53 traffic stops during the campaign, according to a news release from the Lake in the Hills Police Department.

During those stops, officers issued 12 speeding tickets and 15 seat belt citation and cited 11 driver for distracted driving, according to a news release. Police also issued tickets and/or made arrests for suspended registration, no insurance, expired registration and no license on person, according to authorities.

The initiative was designed to bolster the safety of area children by enforcing traffic laws and deterring traffic violations that put child passengers at risk and bring community awareness to traffic laws that help to protect child passengers, police said.

The Child Passenger Safety Week campaign was funded by federal traffic safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered by Illinois Division of Transportation.
