LITH Officers Issue 15 Citations in July 4th Mobilization

The local police department increased patrol hours as part of a statewide effort to keep the roadways safe over the holiday.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The results are in from a recent traffic enforcement mobilization held over the Fourth of July holiday in Lake in the Hills. As part of the traffic enforcement effort, which was conducted between June 17 and July 8, officers clocked 17 additional hours patrolling and handed out 15 citations. The citations issued included seven speeding tickets, two distracted driving tickets, three citations to uninsured motorists and three non-moving violations.

Officers did not issue any citations for seat belt violations during the detail, according to a news release.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this statewide effort to get drivers under the influence of alcohol and/or illegal drugs off roadways and encourage seat belt use, according to the news release. The Lake in the Hills Police Department joined forces with more than 160 other state and local law enforcement agencies conducting the high-visibility enforcement crackdown.

The recent law enforcement effort was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” programs.
