LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Village officials in Lake in the Hills recently approved two demolition projects and are requesting the public's feedback on what they think should be done with the properties. Demo work is expected to get underway next week on the stables at 1109 Pyott Road, which is located on the same property as the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry, and a village-owned, single-family home at 9017 Haligus Road, which is located near the Bark Park, according to village officials.

Both the home and the stables will be leveled and restored to green space following demotion in order to prepare the sites for future public use, according to a public works update from the village of Lake in the Hills.

The Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Board is still discussing future uses for both spaces. Options that have been discussed for the Pyott Road property include a wheelchair-accessible playground, a fitness park, a splash pad, a bandshell and more, according to village documents.

Lake in the Hills residents can learn more about the properties and provide their feedback regarding what they think should be done with the green space on the village's website. Village officials say that while input is "highly encouraged," additions to the property on Pyott would not be considered during this fiscal year and "possibly not for some time."

"We are dedicated to working with our residents and the Parks and Recreation Board to determine the best public use of the space to meet our community’s needs," according to village officials.
