LITH Police Kick Off Impaired Driving Campaign
Local police will be out in full force July 26 through Aug. 12.
From the Lake In The Hills Police Department: The Lake in the Hills Police Department will focus extra enforcement efforts and show zero tolerance towards impaired drivers committing drug and alcohol related offenses as part of an additional crackdown taking place July 26th through August 12th .
Officers will be attempting to identify and cite motorists who choose to drive without using their safety belts, are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and/or are committing other traffic-related offenses. Enforcement will be conducted predominately during the late night/early morning hours as research shows this is when the most serious traffic accidents occur due to impaired driving, speeding, and the failure of vehicle occupants to wear safety belts.
The campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation – Division of Transportation Safety.
