LITH Police To Monitor Beach Capacity

Village officials in Lake in the Hills have enacted new rules after reports of overcrowding at Butch Hagele and Indian Trail beaches.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Following reports of overcrowding at Indian Trail Beach in Lake in the Hills village officials announced Thursday they will take action moving forward if more than 50 people are found to be at the beach at the same time. The Lake in the Hills Police Department will regularly monitor capacity at both Indian Trail Beach and Butch Hagele Beach, both located on Woods Creek Lake, and respond to calls about the beach capacity.

If necessary, the beaches will be closed on days when the 50-person capacity limit is not followed, according to a post on the Lake in the Hills Police Department Facebook page. Those wishing to report capacity issues can call the Lake in the Hills Police Department's non-emergency number at 847-658-5676.

"If there are too many people at the beach when you arrive, please wait for some to leave before visiting," according to the Facebook post. The new rules will take effect on Friday, July 31.
