LITH Teen will be First Huntley High Student to Compete at National Forensic Finals
Marta Makowski will compete at the Lincoln Financial Group/National Forensics League finals in June.

Marta Makowski of Lake in the Hills will be heading to Indianapolis this June to represent Huntley High School at the Lincoln Financial Group/National Forensics League finals.
The senior will be the first student from Huntley High to compete at the national forensics' competition, according to a District 158 press release.
Makowski qualified for the forensic finals by placing third in original oratory at the Greater Northern Illinois District contest on March 3.

Makowski has set other records during her time at Huntley High, winning a school record of 26 individual championships. She has made the final round 56 times during her high school career, according to the news release.
She won IHSA sectional championship titles in impromptu and original oratory and placed seventh at the IHSA state speech contest.

Head Speech Coach Tom George referred to Makowski as "the most dedicated and talented student he has coached in his 23 year career as a coach."
The Lincoln Financial Group/National Forensics League finals will be held from June 11 to June 15 in Indianapolis. The speech team is raising money to help pay for Makowski's trip and interested donors can e-mail Coach Tom George at tgeorge@district158.org.
