Local Businesses Enjoying New Sign Freedom

Cafe Firefly and Bella Vita Salon are just a few businesses that are taking advantage of recent changes to the village's sign code.

Small businesses in Algonquin are taking advantage of the recent sign code updates.

“I will absolutely be taking advantage of the sign code changes," said owner, Allie Gilbert. "We are working on and designing the signs. They will help make the restaurant more visual to oncoming traffic.”

Gilbert had been pushing for the change because she said it didn’t make sense that you couldn’t have signs out in front of your business.

“There were obviously some businesses that weren’t comfortable with the change, but I pushed for it and it paid off!” Gilbert said.

Jacquie Kacena, general manager at on Main Street shares Gilbert’s delight regarding the sign changes.

“I was very happy to see the village support the small businesses,” Kacena said. “It makes our area more quaint and inviting.”

Kacena said that the salon finally will be able to put out a sign that has been part of the inner decor.

“Our sign is so nice-looking and professional, and I’m glad people will be able to enjoy it daily.”
