Local Students Named National Merit Semifinalists
The National Merit scholarship program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships.

Several local students have been named National Merit semifinalists.
Semifinalists include Madelyn Lanham from Harry D. Jacobs High School in Algonquin; Derek A. Holtz and Emma N. Lang from Cary-Grove High School; Kirk J. Bowman, a home school student in Cary; Kristin L Noller a Crystal Lake South High School student and Roshini H. Bhatt and Ryan W. Czarnecki who are both attend Huntley High School.
The National Merit scholarship program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. Semifinalists must advance to finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standard, receiving a recommendation from their principal and earning SAT scores that confirm the earlier qualifying test performance.
