Man Charged In Hit And Run That Injured Lake In The Hills Woman: Cops
The hit-and-run crash happened on Route 62 and South River Road in Algonquin Saturday night.

ALGONQUIN, IL — A 38-year-old Algonquin man faces charges for allegations he hit a woman with his SUV in Algonquin Saturday night and then fled the scene, police said.
The woman, a 25-year-old from Lake in the Hills, was seriously injured and taken to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley following the incident, which happened at about 9:10 p.m at the intersection of Route 62 and River Road, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department.
The woman was crossing Route 62, walking in a crosswalk. The inner lanes of traffic on Route 62 were stopped to let her cross when a dark sports utility vehicle headed east, and traveling in the outer lane of traffic, hit her, according to the news release.

She was found lying in the roadway when authorities arrived. She remained hospitalized as of Sunday and is listed in stable condition, authorities said.
On Sunday, an investigation into the hit and run lead police to the 500 block of North Harrison Street where they found a dark-colored Chevrolet SUV with damage consistent with a vehicle that'd been involved in a hit and run crash, police said.

They found the SUV in a rear parking lot of a multi-tenant complex and spoke with a 33-year-old Algonquin woman who told officers she was the passenger in the SUV when it hit the woman, according to authorities. She told police the driver was Paul Epifanio, 38, of the 500 block of North Harrison Street.
Authorities arrested him on a warrant, and he later admitted to hitting the 25-year-old Lake in the Hills woman with his car. He has since been charged with felony leaving the scene of an injury crash, felony failure to report an accident, no valid driver's license, improper use of registration, expire registration, failure to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and unsafe tires.
Epifanio was transported to McHenry County Jail to await a bond hearing. He is expected to appear in court for a bond hearing.
