Man Critically Injured In Rural Kane Co. Crash

The single-vehicle collision happened early Monday near Gilberts. James Oury, 37, was seriously injured in the crash.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A 37-year-old Kane County man was critically injured in a collision that happened near Gilberts early Monday, authorities said.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office was called to the single-vehicle collision, which happened at about 1:20 a.m. on McCornack Road in Rutland Township. Police say a 2012 silver Dodge Ram pickup driven by James Oury, 37, of the 39W800 block of Tower Hills Road in Gilberts, went off the road and hit a tree.

Oury was ejected from the vehicle after it rolled over at least once, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

Oury's cell phone alerted 911 to the crash, and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, according to police.

Oury was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. He was then transferred to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment of head and shoulder fractures.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office along with the Kane County Drone Team and Kane County Evidence Division are handling the investigation to see if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash and if charges will be filed.
