Man Found Guilty in Child Sex Assault Case

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL -- A 29-year-old man was found guilty last week of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse in McHenry County Court. William J. Dugar, Jr., previously of Elgin, appeared before Judge Robert A. Wilbrandt during the bench trial. The victim in the case testified and a witness to sex acts that occurred while the victim was a minor in 2010 in Kane County also testified, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

The sex assault case was investigated by the Crystal Lake Police Department.

Dugar will be sentenced on July 19. He faces a total prison sentence between nine and 67 years behind bars and must serve 85 percent of his sentence on the predatory criminal sexual assault of a child charge, according to prosecutors.

He also must register for life as a sex offender.
